Andrellos Mitchell is a Washington, D.C.–based Attorney, Legal & Policy Analyst and Commentator on law, public policy, and culture. His work focuses on institutional accountability and how legal frameworks operate in practice—not just in theory.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana, Mitchell comes from a multigenerational Foundational Black American (FBA) family on both sides, with deep Southern roots and Native American ancestry on his father’s side. Both of his grandfathers served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was initially raised by his grandparents before relocating to Washington, D.C. at a young age, where he grew up between D.C. and Maryland. His family lineage in North America extends back at least 200 years, while the Mitchell surname has been present in North America for more than 400 years, dating back to the early 1600s.
Born with severe asthma, Mitchell developed discipline and resilience early, later excelling in athletics before pursuing a multidisciplinary academic path. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work (B.S.W.) from Frostburg State University (1986), a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision of Adult Education Programs (M.A.) from the University of the District of Columbia (1990), and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.), a professional degree in law, from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (1993). During his academic career, he was recognized for outstanding achievement by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., reflecting a longstanding commitment to excellence, scholarship, and leadership.
Before entering the legal profession, Mitchell worked in social work and education, gaining firsthand experience with how policy decisions affect individuals, families, and communities. That background continues to shape his approach—grounding legal analysis in real-world impact rather than abstract theory. His transition into public interest and civil rights law reflects a natural progression rooted in a lifelong commitment to helping others and paying it forward.
Since 2008, Mitchell has written and published commentary on law, politics, and culture, with work appearing in The Washington Times, The Baltimore Post-Examiner, The Baltimore Sun, The Afro-American Newspapers, The Daily Caller, The Washington Informer, and The New York Daily News. His commentary and analysis on law, public policy, culture, and media have also been cited, featured, or quoted by Newsweek, The Washington Examiner, The Epoch Times, Cybernews, Quill Magazine, NTD News, TechRound, and The Washington Times.
He is the founder and publisher of The Mitchell Report Media LLC, an independent platform covering government, law, the courts, public policy, media, and culture, with a focus on clarity, institutional accountability, and independent, real-world analysis grounded in constitutional principles.

His work generally focuses on the following areas:
Mitchell is a lifelong independent voter who has never been registered with or a member of the Democrat or Republican parties. Grounded in a Christian value system and a traditional Southern upbringing, his views are largely conservative on social and cultural issues. He supports a limited but functional role for government, including a basic social safety net, while opposing coercive overreach and unchecked expansion of state power. He also supports effective, professional law enforcement while advocating accountability for misconduct and opposing corruption and incompetence. His analysis is rooted in a constitutional, nonpartisan framework and informed by lived and professional experience, focusing on government authority, individual rights, and how public policy operates in practice.
